in the family hug, cain slips away like a wraith, and when you look again you see abel is also missing.

 

 

Eva giggles excitedly as she talks with the elder drachen and augustus walks over to mnoira, helping her off and beginning to talk.

 

The slap silences everyone......And augustus stands in shock, holding his cheek as moira begins to tear up, the cracks in the womans armor finally showing as augustus draws her close.

 

everyone seems to talk at length. Warmly over food as many of the white company silencers that had held the line besides the company remove their patches, covering the ir arms with black bandanas.

 

DUring the celebration, krieg pulls burias by the arm away from the fire and whispers.

 

"Cains gone.....SO is his freakk of a brother."

Burias was happy and having fun with his great great grand father and all of his sister drachens before he found himself in the dark now. Burias was still in surprised mode as Krieg whispered to him, but shook it off when he answered. "I noticed earlier, I thought they went to go talk over something in private." he told him, not to worried himself. "....Wait did not you use to call me that?" Burias mentioned after registering the last few words Krieg said. He was pretty certain he was going to be looking for Cain and able with the way Krieg was asking. Perhaps it was a goodthing, they were gone for awhile now.

Krieg says simply, looking at his pda.

 

"THis doesnt bother you at all? he stumbles off wounded and that bloodthirsty fuck is with him?"

"You mean like how it bothers me Augustus shows up and stays for awhile, seeing my great great grandfather who thinks of himself as a failure, or the man who is worried about my brother right now is the same one who wanted me to kill him when a kill chip was activated in cain and said I would replace him in what was needed. Brother has a habit of keeping people who wanted to kill him around him." Burias said as he stared directly in Krieg's eyes. "Now, did you find him or what are you doing staring at that?" Burias said, his patience going thin for one moment and then coming back the next.

Im not apologizing for waht i said...BUt at this point theres no need for him to die when hes doing well...Are you done? becasue itd be gfreat if you were done so we can go save the fucking commnader of this unit..."

 

He says with an annoyed eye roll.

 

"YOu people and your morals..I swear."

"More like people and their hypocrisy, but you know, whatever helps you stay in the right.....arschole." Burias said with a gesture for him to move already, Krieg acting like Burias somehow knows the way to wherever they could be.

Krieg leads you through the forest until you can see able annoyedly pacing back and forth alongside the prone form of cain.

 

"Damnit cain! Get up so i can kill you! now is no time to be tired!:"

"Able! What the hell!" Burias said aloud as he walked out of the brush and leaving Krieg behind. He knew krieg will have a problem with that, but Burias' main focus was making able answer to him and not what will and will not be ok with Krieg. "Everyone else comes here in peace and yet you still want to be a piece of Scheisse and kill cain?! What is wrong with you?!" Burias asked, practically interrogating the clone of cain right now as he walked up to him.

able looks at burias as if confused.

 

"Its my job! To push him! To try and replace him!"

 

he lifts cain with one of the dervishes tendrils and shakes him.

 

"This is the way our beasts work... The hawk always taunts the hound!"

"Wait, you mean fox right? Hawks do not normally interact with dogs, unless the dog in question is one of those small little yappy ones that a hawk mistakes for being like a rabbit or something. Otherwise this whole metaphor just collapses on itself." Burias pointed out as he shook his head. "And why is it your job? Is it because Augustus said so? And Beasts? Who does that work when three in our heads get along better nowadays better than most members of black company right now?" Burias questioned Able, starting to wonder if he ever actually thought about what he was doing in the first place. Burias knows he is guilty of doing things without thinking of them too, or things people would consider to be bad but were need or just plain an order.

Able huffs at the destruction of his logical allegory.

" well.... Mostly because dad says so.... But it's better than not having a purpose."

He makes Cain smile comically , pantomiming his voice.

" I'm awake... You can kill me now!"

Able chuckles for a few moments than slumps.

" damn battles I'm not allowed to be in...."

Burias looks at cain for a moment and then at Able for awhile. "....Is it really better than having nothing?" he asked Able in a more soft tone compared to earlier. "I mean, for a long time Cain didn't have anything either after what happened to him. But he gave himself a purpose, Black company, and he's been trying his best to accomplish what he sets out to do. Why do not you do that? Find something you, as in Yourself, want to do. If you stick with what Augustus has put on you, If you can not do something like that for your own good, how do you expect yourself to every actually be better than Cain?" Burias questioned.

one of the tendrils swivels towards burias, miminicing his words with a tiny repitilian voice .

 

"I know i cant replace him....Father has already told me that much"...

 

 

He sighs and sets cain down.

 

"but if i can push him.......To go a little farther..Maybe i can become my own thing while he does his.."

"What, he told you your job is to push and replace him, but then tells you that you actually can't? .....I wonder if he talked to my vater more than I thought." Burias said as he shook his head. Looking around and seeing no real place to sit down, Burias sat down next to cain and gestured Able to sit with him. "So, what do you want to do when you can do your own thing? Thought about it before?" Burias asked him, actual sincerity in his voice as he waited for Able to either sit or just stand and answer him.

"i want to cook."

 

Abel says with a warm smile, watching his brother sleep.

 

"I would love to actually lettle down somewhere and cook..... Anything that isnt mre."

"Ja, they are not exactly the best are they?" Burias chuckled, agreeing with him about the package things that ho siht darked to call 'meals'. "You know, that sounds a lot like what Cain wanted to do. Become a baker. Make all kinds of breads, cookies, cakes, stuff like that. It kind of sounds like you two have more in common than just the whole clone thing." Burias suggested to Able. Able didn't seem all that bad to him now, even after he did try to kill them earlier in the facility long before the chinese fiasco.

Able smiles as he watches burias closeley.

 

"Father had the chance to really improve MRES years back...He said the furthering of corn was far more important.."

 

He mocks his fathers serious tone and smiles.

 

" Nothing is more important to folks like us than mres."

"....I think having someone you can trust is pretty high up there too." Burias said, meaning it. "Did not really have to think about that till after what happened with the Epsilon Flesh heap. Almost everyone from our squad turned on Cain when they learned ghoul organs was put into him to make him into a weapon. And I didn't have many friends outside of Cain, Krieg, Aberga, and Thaes, so with the vorboten actually on my side and finding a sister I didn't know fighting with me is really nice too. But, I am glad we got lucky enough to keep finding people who like us, trust us, and share the same reasons for turning on ho siht. I mean a lot of them did sort of try to kill us before we could  talk, like melinko and Yuko, but we're all friends now. At least i hope we are after all we been through so far." Burias said as he retold some stories about their experience on the run from ho siht so far. "But what about you Able?" he asked him now. "Do you have people like that? Like great grandfather and.....actually I think I will leave Augustus out for right now." he said before laughing a little.

at this, able shakes his head solemly.

 

"My dervish trainingtook years to master... And being sent on ops doesnt leave much time to get close to anyone.."

 

Without meaning too, the tendrils of his coat raise a bit and hang idly.

 

"Honestly i dont know anyone father works with..... Everything for me is just a blur of violence, cooldown, healing and repeat

Burias was looking at Able with wide eyes behind his gasmask, but not at the little hooks, but at what he said. "Wow, that is not a way to live at all. In fact it sounds like what Augustus was trying to do with Cain, but more direct." Burias said, thinking he saw a lot of parallels between them now. "I doubt you are happy with that, are you?" He asked. Burias felt kind of sad now for Able, but he wasn't sure how he could help with Augustus around still. He doubted the man would simply let Able go or let him stay with them. Or maybe he would? "Have you thought about just staying with us or something like that?"
