Varkanis caught the skin of water, but was almost knocked off balance from his seat on the deathnid by the force of the throw. "Hmpf, since I've been alive for...what several centuries? She better have something that will make me drop my jaw, and usuable on the field too before you turn that into something perverse." Varkanis said, heading off whatever joke noctis would have lined up in response.

[Thugren]

"shes a new strain...Something we hid from noctourne...even freya.....Shes an Ommagu."

 

He fiddles with his claws as the reaper hisses. 

 

"You...have to be kidding me."

[Armoured Priest]

"And with that kind of reaction from a reaper ghoul, it prompts me to ask what an Ommagu is and why you had to hide it from Freya out of everyone." Varkanis now asked Noctis, becoming more curious then his lackluster attitude to the idea of going into the sahara. 'Friend now enemy, lost cities, Necrocnic dragons, and mysterious strains of ghouls, this is one way to wake up to the world I suppose.' he thought to himself as the deathnid moved over the sand dunes, listening to the other two ghouls.

The raper hisses, as noctics looks up at him.

 

"Its a strain of humaN THAT HYper evolved."

 

the scoprion runs up a dune and jostles the rides hard making noctis growl.

 

"HEY dEKALON! CAREFUL!"

 

\the beast chitters in fear and nods as it runs

"Dekalon.........WAIT WHAT?!" Varkanis nearly shouted before making the deathnid, who varkanis now realize is actually the emperor scorpion patriarch, before jumping off it's back and onto the hot sands. "Both of you! Off of him, now!" He ordered the Nashgara and Noctis with taps from his staff. "Why didn't you say anything about this earlier?" Varkanis asked Noctis as he examined the scorpion creature more closely now. He still looked like a deathnid on the exterior. "And how did you know?" he added as he added. It certainly didn't act like the Dekalon he remembered.

noctis blinks twice as if confused.

 

'why? the sands hot.....I aint standing on it."

 

as if scared of your raised voice dekalon buries itself halfway in the sand  and covers its face with its pincers.

"Noctis I wasn't asking!" he said to the stubborn patriarch, while trying to keep his voice calm and even compared to just a few seconds ago. "Unless you're admitting that you have a lesser tolerance than a human?" he said with a quick gesture to his clothed wrapped feet and legs, which were in the mentioned hot sand. He shifted his attention back to Dekalon and crouched on to a knee with the aid of his staff. "It's ok, I'm not mad at you Dekalon, you do remember that name, yes?" he asked the scorpion.

the scorpion removes one of its pincers, exoposing its eyes and they blink in unison.

 

"old man......Skinny man...Mommas frined..."

 

He buries himself deeper."Noctis is scary.......everyuthing is scary.."

"It's ok, a lot of people think Noctis is scary." he said to the timid scorpion as he gently patted the spot on it's carapace where it would be considered the top of it's head. "He won't do anything to you, he's your friend remember? You have nothing to fear, I promise." he told him, hoping dekalon won't bury himself completely in the sand where they can't get him back out. "Now, will you come out of the sand with the rest of your friends?" he asked, getting himself clamed back down as well after the realization he had earlier.

The massive scorpion slowly unearths itself and noctus hops up into it's back.

" I'm glad to see you up again old man."

[Armoured Priest]

Varkanis stood back on his feet, with much more visible effort and aid of his Staff, before giving a sigh. "I think I'm happy to be up at all." he said both to him standing back up and what noctis was referring about. "Now, with that done and everyone a little better, lets continue the trek to meet this Ommagu you mentioned." he said as he carefully got on Dekalon, still not comfortable with riding the patriarch but knowing it would be slow going on foot. "Dekalon, how did you even get here? You were in North America the last I heard." he asked.

dekalon looks up at you again. "

 

"unno....Dont rermeber..woke up in the river and noctis said hi......>Than i got mad and started eating things."

[Armoured Priest]

"....I see, thank you." he said as he gently patted the carapace of the giant emperor scorpion. 'A situation that would or could reduce a patriarch to this kind of state is something I should find out about if I'm to at least try to help this patriarch, but seems like it'll be awhile before that can be figured out.' he thought to himself as the group continued it's trek through the dunes of the Sahara.

As he walks the scorpion idly clacks at the air lost in his own little world as he ferries you across the sand. In the distance you see the ruins of a town and the scorpion stops dead.

It buries itself in the sand as noctus grunts...

"She really tore up this town...."

[Armoured Priest]

"I'm guessing this is a town that popped up after I went to sleep?" he asked, not able to recollect a town being in this area before. Seeing that dekalon was in no mood to carry on into the ghost town, Varkanis hopped off the patriarch and began walking onward. "Any reason as to that Noctis?" he asked, referring to what noctis stated earlier.

A figure skips out into the town center, humming a dainty time.

A ghoul lunges out of the dark at her and the girl giggles.

" hi food! Hi!"

From under the girls billowing dress there is a loud hiss and a long tendril lashes up, spearing into the ghoul and beginning to slam him mercilessly into the ground."

[Armoured Priest]

"Well, that was certainly, surprising." Varkanis managed to say, after just witnessing a little girl break an adult ghoul with the strength of a small flesheap. "If I die by a child, I will come back to haunt you, remember that now." He said to noctis before he took a few steps forward with his staff, poking him to go with him as well. Noctics knew the child's parents, so that was something. "Hello, hungry today?" he asked as if it was just another day working with the living dead for him.

The little birl looks at you instantly, her startling red eyes focusing on you with cat like irises. 

 

"Who are you?"

 

more tendrils explode outard until she stops,

 

 

"Nocti?"

 

she lunges the tendrils forward, hugging the ghoul tight with a loud quortet of sickening pops.

 

"NOCTI"

"I don't think that's good for him, or his spine either." Varkanis said, doubting the child was paying much attention to him in the first place now. "I don't suppose you can let go of him before you make him look like a empty toothpaste tube now?" he said a little louder, doubting even his powers could bring back Noctis after something like that.
