Noctis whispers , his vboice like a broken reed.

 

"YOu made a difference....YOu gave humans t he chance to survive.....ANd we, youre best...Most devoted servants and friends.. COuldnt stop hating these humans enough to keep up your work... we LET this happen...... This blood is on our hands."

"Honestly Noctis, I don't know what else to tell you or her. I don't hold anything against you, I don't blame or hold any of you responsible for this." he sighed. "In the end, human and ghoul nature just overtake at the worst possible times. If there's one thing I abstain and abhor about necromancy and the practicioners, is how some completely overturn and change their ghouls minds. I try to guide and show, not force a change. And I stopped when I was put to sleep." he said as he watched the other side of the river where some ghoul wildlife were drinking the water. "But if there is anything we can look forward as of right now, is that there is a second chance to rebuild. Once we take care of major problems such as nightmare of course." he said nonchalantly.

"He speaks to us sometimes you know....THe remaining patriarchs..."

 

Noctis looks at his hand and closes it.

 

"ANdto some of us...He whispers....'

 

A vicous bone spur grows from his arm, and the patriarch considers it.

 

"Its how he turns us.."

"And that is exactly what we need to stop." He said as he stood, audible pops coming from some of his joints, dusting sand off his robe. "If there is one thing you and I understand, is that nothing has a choice under his influence. And that's if one has a useful purpose to him." he sighed before looking down to noctis. "Come on old friend, it was you and others that made what we did possible for entire cities. I doubt I would have walked ten feet out of my tomb today if you weren't there." He said before extending his hand to him.

noctis takes it with a smile and stands as dekalon peeks its eyes from the sand, poking varkanis with its tail.

 

"hey.....hey can we go...soon .. please?'

 

the scorpion asks with a nervous peep.

"Of course we can." he said to dekalon, gently stroking the scropion's tail to soothe it, wondering what has made him so nervous in the first place. "But the better question would be where too?" he asked them before looking around himself, trying to see anything on the horizon through his bone mask.

Noctis shrugs.

 

"We cpould go visit the cult? Or go piss of damien a bit. Either way im ok with it."

"Hm, so they are still around then. Finding them sounds like the wiser idea for now without any real supplies." Varkanis reasoned as he clambered onto the back of Dekalon, petting his carapace back gently. "I'm assuming they moved from the city, where did they go Noctis?" he asked him, curious.

deakon makes an odd chittering sound of contentment as he rises.

 

"Probably to the jungles honestly."

 

Noctis shrugs as the others conme out and get on the massive creatures back.

 

"YOu sure you want to go reach out to them Varkanis?"

He looks over to noctis with a raised brow. "I'm sure myself, is there something I need to know before we set off?" he asked him.

"Theyre insane zealots who praise things like you as if your gods."

 

He says flatly.

 

'What do you think is going to happen when you go there."

[Armoured Priest]

Varkanis sighs. "The optimist in me wants to think that it will making speaking with them easily and that communication will be simple and clear between us all and there will be no issue. The realist thinks that they will immediatly start marytr themselves over precieved sins in the face of their 'god'." He said. He looks over to Noctis. "Tell me the optimist can be right for once?"

he shrugs as the scorpion lifts and begans running across the sand at the brisk pace.

 

Soon the sun begins to rise as your group all sleep on the massive scorpids back, but as it walks, you notice he is looking up at you.

 

"Hey.....its good to see you again...."

"Dekalon?" he said looking down at the pupils looking at him. "Have you regained your faculties my friend?" he asked, hoping the patriarch has now finally regain his memories miraculosly. Though he would have to question on the how still.

He looks forward, his eyes on the sands.

" a lot of us went mad varkanis...... It's a symptom of the time."

He clicks his claws, snacking up an unawares desert mouse and begins to eat .
" glad to see you when I woke up."

"Not everyone seems to share your sentiments my friend." he chuckled lightly, thinking back to the "warm' welcome nocturne gave him. "Do you remember much that happened to you Dekalon?" he asked the scorpion, interested to hear its tale as they trekked the dark desert.

Dekkalon nods.

 

"it was nightmare.....It was noctourne. Those of us she couldnt kill, She drove mad...This way you couldnt use us agaisnt her...That was her logic at least

"So I have heard recently." He said with a shake of his head. "The same kind of hard manipulating that Augustus liked to use, only worse so." Varkanis sighed to himself. "But I wonder, why would they think the Patriarchs and Matriarchs would listen to me. My influence resides with the undead, wouldn't you and the others flock to Freya?" he asked Dekalon, refering to the one who made them in the first place.

"Freya's missing?" He said, surprised by the new bit of information. One more on the list of thing of his world turning for the worst during his absence. "The greastest of you?" he asked with a raised brow behind the skull mask.
