Thessa sits up and swings her legs off the cot. She had a horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach. "How...how did he die...when?"

"he died in the strike.....He tried to save the leader of the wild cards... We recovvered his geode....but we never were able to find his remains."

A numbness spreads through Thessa and she finds it difficult to breathe. "Get out...." she whispers to them. Her stomach twisted with nausea and she choked down tears. "Just get out! Leave me alone for a while...."

Hot tears started pouring down her cheeks though she didn't completely understand why. She could remember flashes of time spent with her company and she felt close to Horus but she couldn't remember all of it, but everything in her seemed to break down when she realized she had ultimately killed him.

they both leave without a word.....Anubis nods and puts a gentle hand on her shoulder and places a data slate down on the cot.


It shows horuses face with the word.

"Kia....Project rebirth ."

Thessa picks up the tablet with shaking hands. Shes terrified to know what it says but wants a truth that she either never had or couldn't remember. She taps the screen and open the first file she sees.

it shows the glowing green bone that horus had shown you, ripped out of its housing in his spine. It laid on a table with a clone of horus laid out on the table like a cadaver.


you see the stone inserted and the body visibly deteroriates before your eyes.


This goes on for several hours and several dozen more cadavers before finally, in about the thirtieth body, you see the familiar glowing

Thessa can barely see the screen through her tears but watches the video to the end. She backs out and moves on to the next file.

there is no other file, the pda goes clack and the pda shuts down.


Slight memories flood you. YOu remember a town, horus when he was younger......Than nothing.



its quiet in the bunker and you notice a slight glow coming from horuses room

Thessa tries for a while to stop the tears but by the time she realized they wouldn't stop a good portion of the front of her bodysuit is wet with tears. She finally lifts herself off the cot and walks over to the open door, stopping just out of sight of the inside of the room.

"I didn't know.....Horus....I'm sorry...." she whispered through her sobs.

Horus smiles and watches the monitors, his face calm and smiling.

"You didnt know thess...YOu called in the strike as best as you could. It was an accident."


He turns to her and taps the bench next to him.

"I dont know what i was thinking those last few seconds....but i probably went knowing you did waht you could."

Thessa walks over and sits down. "Accident yes...but not a coincidence." She takes a deep breath. "What do you remember? About us I mean." She looks over at him, wiping tears from her cheeks.

Horus folds his hands and reaches into his vest. Inside is a folded peice of paper.


YOu unfold it and it showsd the both of you, hand in hand in a chapel, a golden wedding band around both of your fingers.


"We were married.."

He mutters as he turns away slightly, showing the wedding band around his neck on a chain necklace.

Thessa stares at the picture with a soft smile and glances over at Horus's wedding band.

"Were...meaning no longer are..." She is quiet for a few moments. "I'm guessing mine was taken when I was captured." She stares at the wedding band around her finger in the picture.

he shakes his head and produces one from his pocket.


"Still are.....Just had to find you first dear."

he smiles, taking your hand and sliding the ring into place with a soft smile

Thessa chokes back a sob as she watches Horus slip the ring onto her finger. She was so happy and though she knew why now she still couldn't remember. Wrapping her arms around his chest, she hugged him tightly.

"I don't want to lose you again...because remembering will make all of this more difficult." She cried quietly into his chest.

he elans over and kisses your forehead with a smile.

"Its ok thess....DOnt worry so much about it ok?"

he strokes away an errant strand of hair and takes your hand gently .


"were here now...thats all that matters."

Thessa leans back, looking at the open door and the monitors. "How much time do we have here, before we need to move on?" She blushed lightly as she realized the implications of her words. "I just need some time to recover, physically and mentally."

horus stands, pulling on his mask


"YOu arent a child, and you arent dead ...Theres no reason to To need to rest...Gear up."

He pulls on his mask and walks out of the room saying nothing.

Thessa gets up and chases after him. She grabs his hand and tugs lightly when she catches up. Her eyes meet his, her lips somehow forming both a frown and a smile.

"An hour then, thirty minutes even. I wish to hear more...if thats ok. Plus I'd enjoy your company without you turning stoic and rigid."

he looks at the door for a long moment before nodding with a sigh.

"Fine thess....Fine.Well stay for the night."


He hits a button and shutters cover the wundows as you hear a low grinding fill the air. all around you the bunker sinks into the ground, obscuring you all safely underground.
