Raissa studied the photo with a slight twinge of envy. What was it like to do things like a normal person? She flipped the paper over checking for writing before laying it back down on top of it's frame. That same confused and uncomfortable look came back to her face as she went back to the tub. She turned the water off, the warm steam wafting up into her face.
"That's a tough question to answer." She stepped into the tub, slowly slipping into the hot water until everything but her head was submersed. "I know what he's asking me to do. It's highly dangerous and every report I've ever read on it ended in utter disaster. I'm also not a surgeon, though everyone seems to think I am." Her sigh rippled the water in front of her mouth. With a conscious effort she made her body relax, letting her muscles unwind. Her voice dropped several octaves, as if she were speaking more to herself than her companion. "Plus if I succeed...what then. There are hypothesis but what will really happen. Old though he may be he would never have a normal life again. Breaking the mutagen crystal like that...he'd be unbelievably powerful and practically unstoppable."
She brought a hand up to cover her face, inhaling the hot steam from the water, trying to hide the eager gleam in her eyes. She wanted to try it, to see what she could create, to succeed where everyone else had failed. Her other hand came up, pulling on her hair, making her scalp hurt. Selfish thoughts is what those were. Doing the surgery for herself and her pride, but her better half was fighting to remind her that he was human and that he had a family and a life. She fought with herself like that for almost a minute before suddenly relaxing and letting her whole body submerge in the water. When she surfaced she wiped the water from her face, pushing her long, black hair back. Another huge sighed came out as she settled back against the tub.
"I honestly don't know, Konstantin."
