I'm trying to watch Hellsing OVA but the Abridged version Authrix showed me has ruined it for me because it was just too fucking funny XD

The anime is not great and the theme is cringe-y but try out Berserk! The manga is waaaaaay better though.

As for some other shows, some off the top of my head.
Full metal panic - one of the funniest show's I've ever watched
Fate/Zero - 7 historical badasses are summoned and a a fight to the death ensues. Enjoy.
Black Lagoon. - a somewhat morbid anime, but has some awesome stories.
and finally, Elfen lied. - warning this anime will take any notions of feels, laugh, then eviserate it like a blond puppy, and then dump it into the sun.

Even the manga gave me major feels at the ending, I haven't watched the anime yet though.

Lucy is most certainly a badass emotional wreck everyone comes to love.
Berserk - They're redoing the series finally! And it's pretty good! I know I picked up Dragons' Dogma SPECIFICALLY because their armor was in the game.
The rest are all alright. Haha. I can't see "Black Lagoon" without thinking of my first time searching for it and getting questionable content thrown in my face....to which I had to make a fol-COUGHCOUGHCOUGH. Evangelion is a MUST see.
