Spoiler

Cry of the Banshee
The long journey
Eniarm, a world of death and destruction but this was not always the case. Only after the taint of Chaos arrived did it fall into this state, it was once a world of beauty and life. Eniarm was once a world held by the Eldar and known as a world that was held by Khaine’s chosen the “Howling Banshees”.

Eniarm’s fall is a tale of tragedy and horror as even the worst nightmares the Seers have foreseen couldn't have prepared us for it. As the event known as “The Fall” came the majority of the Eldar cried out in a mix of terror, disbelief and pain. Eniarm was no exception to “The Fall” but was outside of the core worlds so that it was spared being swallowed by the place now known as the “Eye of Terror”. If only we had heeded the warnings our forefathers told us but we were ignorant and foolish.

Eniarm faced Warp Storms that ripped her apart but she survived the onslaught but was changed, no more lush grasslands and forests but now charred earth and barren wastelands. To have once seen Eniarm as a beautiful land now nothing but a barren rock made all who had seen it hearts sink into despair.

Although once which once was may come again and Eniarm may return to the beautiful world again, as always we the Eldar can only hope. It has been millennia since we've returned to Eniarm but even the visions of it and stories told of its beauty looked as if they were a tale. It was like seeing a great warrior who was now nothing more than a broken down penniless beggar.

This world was left alone after all of the Craftworlds that could escape when “The Fall” came. A vision was given to Farseer Faervel of Craftworld Ulthwe which showed her a relic abandoned after “The Fall” came. This relic was only described by Faervel as a blade which is said to have been of the few links left to the God Vaul who was the armourer of the Gods, it is said this is one of the blades that was one of the blades created by Vaul for Khaine which is why it is so important to recover this holy relic before the Mon’ Khiegh or forces of Chaos discover it.

Farseer Faervel seems to be completely convinced this is one of the blades Vaul personally forged. A strike team of five Howling Banshee led by Howling Banshee Exarch Elasha. She knew these Howling Banshees for centuries and has fought countless battles with them and the six of them were tasked to escort Farseer Faervel to the Artefact somewhere on Eniarm.

The strike team consisted of Exarch Elasha, Howling Banshee Rania, Alyndra, Ariawyn, Delshandra, Ynshael and Farseer Faervel. Each of these Howling Banshees had sworn to protect Faervel no matter the cost to themselves.

Exarch Elasha had heard the story of how Khaine was given these blades by Vaul but knowing her luck it would have been the one blade which was a normal blade, this is because her last assignment seemed that the fates themselves were attempting to torment her.

Elasha had been facing down the easily corruptible Humans who thought that Chaos would bring their salvation, she had faced down hundreds of heretics, Chaos Marines and Daemons, and nothing was going to stop her from avenging her fallen sisters that day. The skies themselves ripped open with energies from the Warp.

Elasha was given a choice stand and hold the line stopping Chaos from breaking through but then the skies would bleed her sisters and brothers apart or she could break formation and slay the foul Chaos Sorcerer who was ripping the sky apart behind the guards who were protecting the Chaos Sorcerer from enemies but this would leave the formation broken and exposed.

It took her only a moment to make her decision with no time to debate the decision, with lightning speed she dashed through lines of heretics and Chaos Marines to stop the Sorcerer from finishing his foul powers. Several of the Sorcerer’s guard attempted to stop Elasha but her Mirror Swords sliced through their armour as if it was made of paper and within a few swipes of her blade she stood before the Sorcerer who was finishing his spell.

Without a moment’s hesitation Elasha began attacking letting out a howl which forced the Sorcerer’s guards to be frozen with fear as they saw her decapitate the Sorcerer. It stunned the Chaos forces surrounding her, this Sorcerer must have been seen as powerful by the foolish Mon’Keigh as they began to flee after Elasha let out one more howl.

Immediately returning to the frontlines killing any of the Chaos Marines foolish enough to get in her way but as she returned everyone who was charge with defending this area had fallen. No one at all had survived the onslaught now Elasha was now being haunting by that battle, was it her fault all those under her command had fallen or was it inevitable? Should she have stayed and held of the forces of destruction rather than charge the Sorcerer and his men?

After the battle Elasha was told this was a victory but seeing so many of those she was charged with protecting dead how could this have been seen as a victory if she had failed to defend those who were depending on her to save and protect them.

Elasha shook off the memories of these events as she heard the alarm ring out as the vessel that was dropping them off had almost arrived at Eniarm.
“This is the “Spectral Spirit” notifying Farseer Faerval and her strike force we are approaching Eniarm and we'll be ready to deliver you to its surface in a few moments, report to the docking bay immediately.” Sang the announcers voice throughout the ship.

The squad had all came prepared and all were honoured to be tasked with protecting the Farseer but Elasha still had doubts about herself over this task, perhaps she shouldn't have been chosen and perhaps another of the Howling Banshee Exarchs should have been chosen to lead this strike force.

These doubts quickly were thrown out of Elasha’s mind as Farseer Faerval entered as it wouldn't be wise to bring doubts to the attention of the Farseer’s mind at a time like this.
“Is your squad prepared, Exarch?” Faerval questioned.
“Yes Farseer Faerval, we are prepared to do whatever it takes to recover one of Khaine’s blades to assist the Craftworld.” Elasha responded although sorrow was still plaguing her from her last thoughts.
“Is something wrong Exarch?” Faerval questioned.
“Nothing Farseer, just thinking about how many fell here so long again.” Elasha responded concealing her true source of sorrow.
“Do not despair Exarch, today we avenge their deaths by reclaim a relic for Khaine and the Craftworld.” Faerval smiled as they had arrived at Eniarm knowing no other Eldar had set foot here in millennia.

The “Spectral Spirit” docking bay doors opened and released a lone ship tasked with delivering this strike force to recover an ancient relic.

Horror Revealed

The descent to the world of Eniarm was painless, effortless and quick, the strike squad of Banshees and their Farseer landed close to the image Farseer Faerval described which was a spitting image of a temple but not just what it once looked like but how it looked now, a decaying husk of the temple’s former glory.

The remains of a massive statue of Khaine stood guard to the temple, the Howling Banshees even though it had decayed and crumbled in parts the Howling Banshees still saw it as pure dedication to Khaine and bowed before it and whispered a small prayer before rising to their feet again.

“Farseer, is this the place you saw in your visions?” Questioned Elasha as the Banshees unsheathed their weapons.

“Yes Exarch, we must reclaim the sword for the Craftworld and the memory of our fallen.” Answered Faerval with a glee of happiness and relief seeping out of her face as she knew this was one step closer to bringing honour and glory to the Craftworld.

“Banshees, remember your orders and ensure that you do not let our Farseer fall this day. No Eldar has entered these ruins in millennia but the great enemy defiles even the most holy of places so be ready and ensure that keep your eyes open as you pass through the ruins.” Spoke Elasha to her Banshees as Rania and Alyndra took the lead with the honour of being the first to enter this sacred temple.

The Banshees moved into the remains of the temple and the Ancient Eldar craftwork was unlike anything seen almost anywhere else in the Galaxy and to see something like this still standing so long after the Eldar’s fall gave hope that once was may come again.

Darkness surrounded them and they travelled through for what seemed hours without learning anything about their location in the temple.

“Excuse me Farseer but we've been wandering blind for some time now, do you happen to know where we are going.” Asked Elasha with respect to the Faerval.

“Do not fear Exarch I know where we're going just keep your faith in me and my sight and we'll make it through this temple alive.” Retorted Faerval feeling a slight pinch of annoyance having her abilities questioned.

Silence returned to the group as they continue through the ruin until Rania thought she saw something.

“Contact!” Shouted Rania as a beast was seen in front of them.

Farseer Faerval instantly saw the taint of She Who Thirsts dwelling all around now, she had led this squad into a trap.

“Squad, to arms prepare to defend the Farseer!” Spoke Elasha clearly as more and more beastmen appeared from the darkness that all stopped twenty paces from the squad.

“In the name of Kaela Mensha Khaine I demand you leave his temple at once and return to the horror of the Eye of Terror!” Roared Elasha as she grasped her Mirror Swords tight.

Silence fell for a few seconds before a Chaos tainted marine appeared before the squad.

“Your false gods cannot touch us here even in, what was it “Khaine’s Temple” Slaanesh has deceived you all by luring you into a trap, you have no idea how foolish you really are. Arrogance is a fatal flaw that the Eldar should have learnt from when Slaanesh first was born but you were fools and you will all die like fools.” Cackled the unknown Marine.

“Show yourself Mon Keigh and I'll show you that our superiority over you isn't false, you're the one who thinks that becoming a slave to these “Gods” as your kind calls them will bring nothing but pain and destruction.” Raged Elasha as she took a step towards the Marine.

“Ha, well I hope so! Slaanesh has promised us pain and destruction, I'd be most… Displeased if Slaanesh didn't deliver on that, but I am the one who has brought you here to die for Slaanesh’s favour. Now scream Banshee and please Slaanesh with your deaths!” Raged the Marine who stepped from the light and showed armour which showed would nauseate the senses with its horrid mixes purples, pinks, yellows and reds which were so bright they would burn the retinas out of unprepared eyes if they looked upon it long enough.

“Attack my minions! Attack and make them sing the songs of death!”  Cried the Marine as his beastmen of from what seemed thirty all charged forward.

“Squad defend the Farseer, I’ll silence that fool.” Calmly spoke Elasha as howled incapacitating several beastmen who she then proceeded to glided through with her Mirror Swords and effortlessly sliced through the their flesh as she had her sights on the Marine.

The squad worked in unison covering each other, the beastmen may have numbers but the skill of the Banshees was unrivalled as they made a sacrifice to Khaine then with the slaughter of Chaos forces. Faerval summoned her Psyker powers and ripped some of the beastmen apart with raw energy and before the Marine knew it his Beastmen were dead on the ground and was stood before Elasha, stunned at how his pathetic forces were destroyed so effortlessly.

“Aren't the Eldar arrogant, Chaos Marine?” Laughed Elasha as she prepared to dance with her blades once more and tear the Chaos Marine apart.

“You've stopped nothing fool! You will die in this long forgotten temple dedicated to a long forgotten false god and then Slaan…” Raged the Chaos Marine until Elasha danced with her blades ripping through the armour of the Chaos Marine sending him down to the ground with a large thud.

The squad quickly assessed themselves and saw that they had been rather lucky not to suffer any injuries but Farseer Faerval had tired from the use of her Psyker abilities but just needed rest from using them.

“So Chaos is here, but we mustn't fail and we must be prepared for any horror they possess that could be dwelling down here, if there is a Blade of Vaul it is a necessity that it is returned to the Craftworld and not taken by some lesser race who doesn't understand the power in their hands.” Spoke Faerval raising the spirit of the Banshee squad.

“This changes nothing but the importance of our mission Farseer, we are dedicated to return this relic from a Chaos tainted world to protect it from corruption. You can count on us to stand to the last facing down the great enemy.” Rallied Elasha as she sheathed her Mirror Swords.

The descent continued as Farseer Faerval showed them the way her visions had told her. A few more enemies were seen but they were mopped up with precise fire from Shuriken Pistols which either mortally wounded Chaos intruders or killed them outright. It was only as they reached the entrance to a great chamber that the first stab of cold fear struck the squad as a horrid shrine of Eldar corpse littered around them.

It had obviously been done purposely with many of the Banshees that were laid around them were decapitated, missing limbs and their armour ripped apart and had been drained of blood when they were either dead or dying. It had been recent as the bright red blood of the Eldar was still wet and some of the Eldar’s wounds still bled.

“By Isha, I will slaughter all of the Mon Keigh who caused this and will show them what true destruction is!” Exploded Farseer Faerval upon seeing the dead Banshees.

“Do not worry Farseer, we will see that all of them know Khaine’s might by the time we are finished. They will beg for our mercy once we are done but show none to those who are lesser.” Spoke Elasha who seemed calm but inside had the burning heat of Khaine running through her blood.

The squad continued their descent through the Chaos infested temple in their hopes to recover a blade of immense power.

Completely forgot about this. Really should have finished it off but since I'm not feeling it like I usually do when I write stuff I left it alone. =/

Glad you liked it though =)
