This is the Hype train thread you havent been waiting for. To stop you having to trail the internet looking for details, I will compile it all here for you. So feel free to comment, will update as we go along. Nothing that is not confirmed will be posted, save speculation for the comment section.
MEGA EVOLUTIONS
So we do have some new Mega Evos, mainly the starters and a few others confirmed so far.
Sceptile
Changes- Gets the added Dragon type, and adds the Ability Lightning Rods.
Swampert
Changes- Same typing, added ability is Swift Swim which will boost its speed (Thank Arceus for that) and a increased used attack stat.
Sablye
Changes- (Whoop Whoop love this guy) Same Dark/Ghost typing and now has the amazing Magic Bounce ability which makes it amazingly useful competitively. Defense and SpAtk goes up, speed is reduced (Cri Cri)
Metagross
Changes- Mother of god its the one we have been waiting for! Still Steel and Psychic, new ablity is Tough Claws,increasing its attack. It has stat increase it the following- Atk, Def, SpAtk, SpDef, making it a balanced power house, one that I personally will be using. Oh and it has a Speed boost.
Diance- (One of the new "Cute" Mystery Gift legends.)
Changes- Still Rock and Fairy, has magic Bounce, massive speed boost, boosts in both Atks and SpAtk, reductions in defense.
MOAR NEW MEGAS (UPDATE 12/8/2014
Salamence- Now has a mega form. Same typing, new ablity, Aerilate and has increased Defense.
Altaria- Gaiins the added Fairy type, new ablity is pixlate and has increases in both attack stats.
Lopunny- Gains the added Fighting type, gains the ablity Scrappy, and has increased Attack and Speed.
Slowbro- Boosted SpAtk and Def, same typing, and has the ablity Shell Armor
Audino- Normal/Fairy, boosted Defense and Special Defense, with the ablity Healer.
PRIMAL POKEMON
So the Keen eyed would of noticed that both Kyogre and Groundon look a bit different. Primal Pokemon are those that have reverted into their primal form. Both Groundon and Kyogre have one, Increasing the former's Attack and the latter's Special Attack. Groundon also gains Fire Types.
GYM LEADERS AND THE ELITE FOUR
The first five Gym leaders have been confirmed as being the same as last time, as have first two Elite four Members. Steven Stone is still the Champion, which means Wallace is probably still a gym leader.
SECRET BASES
They return again, this time with some new features. Turn them into Gyms if you want, or play Capture the Flag, finding others secret bases and stealing their flags. New "Secret Pals" provide many options, including speed hatching, battles and leveling up your Pokemon.
So far the only way to share your bases it through either Street Pass or a QR code you can create to share with the world.
POKEMON CONTESTS
Contests are back, though not much is confirmed. Cosplaying Pikachus are included.
AQUA AND MAGMA
Both Team Aqua and Magma are back, With both Archie and Maxie still in charge. Their role will be the same as they were in the originals, with some new features bound to show up.
POKEMON AMIEE
Returns from X and Y for the Remakes. One only returning features from previous games to show up so far.
