Dragon Age II

So I've order Dragon Age II and from JC's description which was its a good game but not as good as the first means I will probably enjoy a good playthrough of it. Only real questions I have are:
• Do choices made in Origins have an effect on gameplay in Dragon Age II?
• How does it differ from Dragon Age Origins if it isn't as good?
• Can I be an Elf who doesn't give a fuck?
• Is the DLC good?
• What is the release date for Inquisition?
Last question is because I feel I could really get into Dragon Age =)
Also please avoid spoiling stuff, if a question's answer would be a spoiler just say it would spoil it so I will stop pestering you guys =)
Also thanks for any information you can tell me =D

- Nothing from DA1 affects DA2 though some choices are assumed.
- You can continue to be an Elf.
- DLC is not that great
- It has better graphics, a better UI, better combat system but....
- Makes use of the same terrain loaded in different colours and angles
- Is much shorter
- Takes place largely within the one city plus the same cliffside area (which you see over and over and over)
- Inquisition is expected 2015 now

You cannot play a elf. The main character has to be human
How could my Chaos Space Marine possibly be this cute?

I have to be... Human...
Kind of annoying none of the choices have lasting effects. I mean the ending for the game if you're Dalish
I'll probably try out the DLC at some point if I enjoy Dragon Age II =)
Being shorter might be annoyance but I bet I'll still enjoy it =)
Quite the annoyance that Inquisition will be delayed, better it be released a bit later rather than a rushed unfinished beta version is released filled with wonderful bugs that make people claw their own eyes out.
I don't know if you're pulling my leg about having to play as a Human. Cru says I can continue playing as an Elf so I think you're trying to make me rage or become disappointed but then be filled with joy when I learn I can be an Elf who doesn't give a fuck =D
I did read somewhere that in the Inquisition you can play as a Qunari (Is that the correct spelling?) well whatever they're called it is the Race Sten is. If I get tired of being an Elf I might try them out =)

We're on a different continent in DA2, the events of the first game have not long concluded

Ah that explains that then. Would have been very annoying if they just ignored everything from the first and you carried without any knowledge of the Dragon Age Origins.
Thanks for the information =)

You hear about Alistair, and the main hero. You encounter some of the characters who have travelled abroad

That's pretty cool. Alistair hated my character anyway. Not much bother though as Alistair was kind of a dick...

Not messing with you, the only choice is a human character, because of the whole family thing.

Kind of annoying they remove that choice. Its like playing Skyrim and being told you have to play as one of those fancy talking, milk drinking, cowardly son of a bitch Imperial.
From the sounds of it I will not enjoy Dragon Age II as much just because I can't be an Elf. Seems quite strange they'd even do that. They removed one of the choices people love about RPG games which is being able to see things from other races and nations perspectives rather than one linear playthrough.
Still thanks for letting me know =)

Play it and enjoy the lore and humor. Then salivate for DA3

I rather enjoyed it. Only when I hit the end section did I realise how shallow it was compared to the first. Until then I really enjoyed the lore and dark feel
