I think it's time we start plotting this. If people who would like to attend could post where they live in the UK we can see about picking a venue that is roughly central, most likely relying on rail travel. We'll plot activities once we pick some possible venues

I live close to Birmingham as a couple of you know but realisticly I live around 40 minutes outside Birmingham but that's the closest big city to me so it's the best place to use as a referance.

Holy shit the rail prices are more expensive than I thought. This puts the whole endeavor on shaky grounds financially for me. I'll know more in a week or so when I work out my financials for being in the UK

Where do people think would be a good place to do this? For me Glasgow is ideal but I suspect people would rather we pick a central location. Based upon finger measurements, Leeds would appear to be the middle of the country. Anyone have other suggestions?

Sadly I'm not truly on holiday, I am saying goodbye to elderly relatives. I expect most of my time to be spent helping them around the house, talking and reading books

Yeah I am kinda disappointed as well but 75 quid for trains, plus accommodation and entertainment amounts to over half my spending allowance over there. If you'll recall I am doing this UK trip on the cheap due to elderly relatives not doing so good.

 

If anyone comes up to Glasgow it's a different matter, and you can always continue organizing one that won't include me

Yeah, travelling in the UK is still expensive sadly, and I can't say I blame you for not wanting/being able to drop that much on it. I wouldn't either. Still, if other gonks are up for some sort of meeting then I'm game.
