Don't really read Eldar fluff. Anything cool craftworld Altansar have done?
(also did you see that ork? HAZARD STRIPES BABY!)
How could my Chaos Space Marine possibly be this cute?

Congrats Fallen, by posting in the correct forum you have proven yourself superior to most of this forums denizens
I agree with Fallen, the mystery surrounding Altansar has always pricked my interest. Have we heard anything else about Xbox One version of the game, as that is the single most important thing for this community?

Ebony, Altansar were the craftworld sucked into the Eye of Terror when Slaanesh was born I do believe. Their Phoenix King was the only one to escape. 10,000yrs later when Abbadon launched the 13th Black Crusade, their Phoenix King performed a counter-attack from within the Eye after reuniting with his long lost craftworld.... They since have escaped the Eye but are regarded with suspicion by the rest of the Eldar as to how they resisted chaos for 10 millenia.

Nothing new as of the Xbox One version Cru. ((Also very happy that I finally posted somewhere correctly ...it only took me THREE AND HALF YEARS... ))

That... actually sounds really cool. Will be interested to see if any more fluff props up on them.

Prior to The Necrons setting off some universal superweapon which seperated the Materium and the Immaterium, Daemons were a constant thorn in the side of The Old Ones, kind of like modern day Orks, Tyranids, Mindflayers etc etc. The Old Ones preferred to create races to fight with them, each with a specialised function. The Eldar way of war mimics that of their gods (The Old Ones) in that their armies are comprised of units specialized for certain roles.
I remember reading somewhere that Altansar prior to The Fall was a craftworld that specialized in Daemon hunting. Hence their ability to survive in the warp for so long, and the above lead-in paragraph. Think about it:
- Ulthwe - Psychers
- Alaitoc - Necron Hunters
- Altansar - Daemon Hunters
- Saim-Hann - Hit and run
- Iyanden - Space combat (pre-Tyranid event)
- Biel-Tann - The nexus of all the above
We don't know much about the other craftworlds specializations but you can see where I'm going.
I imagine Craftworld in EC will just be a skin thing, a way to tweak visuals. They won't go into special perks (eg more damage to Daemons)

It'll will be like DOW, being just a skin thing. I doubt they will delve much deeper than beneath the paint scheme and name.

That makes sense.

Yeah, any 'sub-racial' benefit will introduce balance issues. For example, if they want to be a melee Marine but don't want to pick Space Wolves they would be at a disadvantage

Exactly. They won't move much further past SM Classes- much like SM it'll be mostly aesthetic.
Yeah I imagine the SM classes will work just like the Space Marine game, not really anything special. I think the Eldar will be the only unusual race when comparing to the likes of Planetside
