Hi everyone hope 2016 has been kind so far?

I have been busy, 2nd daughter was born mid November so I am outgunned 3-1 in my house now! lol

Now I love book but I don't have the space to keep as many real books as I would like so I use a Kindle, and I am a real sucker for fantasy and sci-fi, I have read almost everything David Gemmell has to offer and anyone who likes heroic fantasy should really check him out, Brandon Sanderson I really like, David Dalglish, sci-fi wise I really like Saga of seven suns by Kevin J Anderson, BV Larson, Vaughn Heppner, Christopher Nuttall.

Are there any books/authors that people can recommend?

Adrian Tchaikovskys "Shadows of the Apt" Collection is a solid set of fantasy books imo, great reads and fun characters. Another set that is always fun to go through would be Kim Newmans "Anno Dracula" series, basically alternate history if Vampires became part of society etc, but is a good twist on things like Jack the Ripper and such.

Another trilogy that I thought was a good story, though maybe a bit cliche at some points was Stan Nicholls "QuickSilver" trilogy. And one more for you, though I only read the first book, Gene Wolfes "Book of the New Sun" collection, which was again a solid fantasy story, with elements of Sci Fi.

As for Sci-Fi I dont read many of those, preferring fantasy, with most of the Sci Fi books I do read being 40k focused, such as my personal favorite, Ciaphas Cain, which I can always recommend. And on the same Warhammer based note, Gotrek and Felix novels for fantasy, just amazing stories and lovable characters

I recommend the following books:

  • Peter F Hamilton - SCi-Fi
    • Commonwealth Duology
    • The Dreamer Trilogy
    • The Night's Dawn Trilogy
    • Mandel Files
    • Throne of Glass Series
  • Richard & Kalan / Sword of Truth / Seeker of Truth series
  • Eragon trilogy

I have way more but those would keep you going for yonks. I think you should start with Peter F Hamilton in the order I listed them

Alright, this should be an obvious one, but have you read Dune, by Frank Herbert? Because damn, if you haven't, get on that. It's THE Sci-Fi book. Pretty much every modern Sci-Fi took something from Dune, every since I read it it's like I am now seeing all those settings with different eyes.

How could my Chaos Space Marine possibly be this cute?

I haven't actually, I will remedy that as well, closest I got to Dune was the film and the really old RTS.

Wreck is such a soft word in this instance, CNC4 was a Great Unclean One

Dune books are indeed amazing and well worth the read, as you would expect the movies do not do the novels justice. Still stand by PF Hamilton though, his Commonwealth series is superior in my view ^^

I have DL'd some of Hamiltons books, in fact I got quite a few that people listed.

If any of you guys like Fantasy I can't recommend Brandon Sanderson enough..
