He gives kombuse a firm slap on the shoulder and cracks his neck.

 

"If he isnt, we have to be ready to find just a cold weapon readfy to be used."

Kombuse wasn't quiet sure what he meant by that but he didn't ask, already too uncomfortable with what was implied through the whole situation. He just sat there and listened to the radio to pass the time for now as ozer-ga went to hibernate for the time being. Hoping things would go better than he thinks. And worse of all, he was still hungry.

it takes everal days, and several nights of driving and avoiding swarms before you start seeing signs for thew white house.....

 

The apolcolypse wasnt exactly kind to the area, as the closer you got, the relics of the fighting became more and more frequent.

 

Hazmat drums filled with skeltons, overturned and ruined apcs, burnt out tanks. Miles of these have to be navigated before talos stops the car and checks his rifle.

While he would normally talk to talos or ozer-ga, or just look outside to admire the new views he was getting to see, he soon grew quiet as they started entering the city itself. The obvious signs of death and destruction getting to the boy who had survived something similar to his own home. And what's worse is that this all seems so....old. To the point that probably no one cared what happened here anymore. But when Kombuse looked away, the ghoul seemed to want to force him to look so he could see himself. While this was a sad place for the human, it was a place of a victorious feast for his own kind. To see the capital of a powerful human nation to be reduced to such a state, even after all these centuries. Kombuse looks around the desolate area in a bit of confusion after Talos announced they had arrived. "But, I don't sees it." he said as he got out of the car, his boot accidentally crunching on a bone in the street.

For talos, to be here was a horrible feeling indeed. This was one of mankinds last true stands before they went into the time known as the dark chase. WHen man moved in nomadic herds, doing their best to avoid the ghoul armies and carve out atenuous place to survive.

 

Sadly, he points to a ruined grate where a crashed helicopted sits silently, a relic of a lost age.

 

"There....TIme for us to get over that wall."

"Oh, ok." Kombuse said in understanding, as if this was all completely normal for him still. Walking up to the gate and wall with Talos, Kombuse goes to try to clamber over the ruins of the helicopter. It would probably have been more difficult for people who weren't ghouls, but the boy learned over the years that thanks to Ozer-ga he can do things he normally find way to hard or impossible to even think about trying in the first place. "Doesn't seem that bad." He said, trying to be optimistic about being in the middle of a dead city.

talos watches you go up, and he lifts himself up and over easily, sitting in the chopper as he watches the sight before him.

 

Ghouls...Hunndred of the damn things  stumble all about the ancient grounds of the whitehouse. Some are in tattered rags, or severely faded clothes, but these souls have been here for years..Some are ancient, some are from reclamation efforts made by various campanigns.

 

"Damnit.."

 

talos sighs, grabbing a rope from his bag and maiking a noose.

 

"Ima have to do this the old fashioned way."

As Talos readied his rope for reasons that escape Kombuse, Ozer-ga came up and overtook control for now, the faux gasmask splitting into jaws again. "I'm not going to wait here while you fish for a ghoul, let me get one of those weaklings so we can keep moving." The ghoul growled as he jumped down off the wreckage and walked toward the nearest walker, intent on grabbing it by the neck and dragging it back for Talos since he had no real patience at this point.

as you move out into the open, you are stopped dead in your tracks.

 

Sitting there, its back turned to you, is none other than the massive patriarch beast coreus. The body sits, ripping the stomach out of a massive fleshheap that screams and flails in ingidnat fury as it is preyed upon.

 

Mid feast.......it stops and slowly raises its head and sniffs the air carefully.

The instinctual fear he had felt before from just seeing a video of Coreus return ten fold, the ghoul paralyzed on the spot seeing the alpha predator within lunging range of himself. 'He's suppose to be dead! Did Talos lied?! Is this a trap?!?!' he thought to himself frantically. His most of his attention either on fear or rampted up paranoia, his control slipped and let Kombuse come to the fore. His human eyes blinking under the ghoul eye lenses, he was rather confused to find himself in the courtyard near all the ghouls and...."Oh that's a big wolf..." he said to himself after seeing the thing infront of him. And it was eating a flesh heap, and sniffing the air. Trying to walk backwards slowly from were he was and back to the crashed copter, Kombuse tried to stay quiet and not grab the wolf's attention,  just like the old guard dog the orphanage used to have. It was a very mean dog...

you suddenly feel something under both your arms, and notice that talos had looped the rope under your arms . With a pained greunt he lifts you straight up into the air , placing his boot agasint the wall of the chopper to keep himself seated.

"This is why you dont just run in!"

 

He says through gritted teeth

"I didn't mean too..." Kombuse said quietly with great guilt in his now tiny voice. He held on tight on to the rope as Talos pulled him up, fearful to make any moves or noises that might attract the giant wolf's attention. Ozer-ga must have walked into the courtyard to get a ghoul and then got scared when he saw it eating a bigger ghoul. "I'm sorry." he apologized, his eyes not leaving the beast mostly out of instinctual fear that he shared with the goal

Talos hauls you over and just watches, the great beast a sight to behold.

 

"I was told he was dead.....but there it is right there...Eating aqnd breathing.."

 

Below, a pack of smaller seeker wolves beginto feast on the great heaps carcass, communicating to each other with yips and grunts.

 

"YOu ok kombuse?

Kombuse nodded at Talos' question, nothing really happened to him other than getting extremely startled at the situation he woke up too. And it seemed like ozer-ga was still to fearful to come to the fore to answer any questions. "...Wait If the wolf brain is in that cain guy though, who's in his body then?" Kombuse asked while he pointed at the giant wolf as he thought over their predicament and what Talos had said about coreus a couple days ago. He might not always be the sharpest tool in the shed, but sometimes a hammer does a good enough job too, especially asking the obvious question.

"The brain may have been removed..But patriarch bodies are beyond powerful....There may be something we dont know."

 

he hauls kombuse in and goes stiff as the massive wolf turns and looks into the chopper, watching them both calmly

"....Maybe he's full?" Kombuse said quietly as both of them stayed still and being watched by the great wolf. He slightly raised a hand and waved it back and forth a little in a gesture of greetings. 'Maybe he's friendly.' he thought to himself. 'ARE YOU INSANE?' the ghoul in Kombuse yell in his mind, sensing what kombuse just did. Kombuse ignored him for now, he wasn't being friendly right now and he needed a timeout.

"Iam.....Sated."

 

The great wolf says with a soft voiice, as if his entire bodywere restraining something.

 

"YOu are safe tiny abomination and human.."

"Oh my god, he talks!" Kombuse said excitedly, his fear completely gone now replaced with awe. But he could feel organs and other things shift and move as if the ghoul within tried to move back further than the body would allow. "So, are you Coreus?" Kombuse asked the great wolf, now somehow feeling safe to just talk to it like it was just another person he meet on the street or something.

My body is here and eating fleshhepas and part of my brain is in the body of a slightly masochistic sniper fighting a holy war.....Im peachy."

 

talos pulls you up and sighs from exertion.

 

"I heard ..you were dead.."

 

Coreus snorts.

 

"Hardly......More like split in half."

"Oh, that sounds a little better....I think?" Kombuse said, with some confusion. He wasn't sure what the wolf meant by split in half, his whole body was right here in front of them. He doubted it was trying to trick them, so he asked. "What do you mean? It looks like you have everything still." Kombuse said as he looked up and down the wolf's body. The ghoul within just grew in panic. The black wolf, the hound, was still alive and there is possibly two?! What the hell did the humans do to this thing?!
