Almost all of the Primarchs are stuck up, and before 3rd edition the Blood Angels were everywhere and were the poster child of Games Workshop Space Marines.

How long have smurfs been poster children? Also never know what was special about them. Most legions have a certain feel, they just seem bland. Thats just my take on them.

Blood Angels were Space Marine reps for 12 Years, Ultramarines for 14. Though it looks more and more like the Black Templars are going to take the mantle next. But I think this has veered off topic....

So books, yeah lots of good suggestions in here following various tastes, so a nice wide variety to choose from.

Blood Angels and Templars and not "Vanilla" Space Marines, so both are worthy of being the Poster Chapter.

So the fact that they have unique rules is the determining factor of the right to be the front runner? The Black Templars didn't get unique rules until 4th edition. So if the Ultramarines got an Ultramarine only codex they'd suddenly gain respect?

Nope, because Matt Ward would pour EVERYTHING into it, one ultramarine captain would solo against 5 trygons. Thats why it DEFINITLY wont gain respect: because of Matt Ward.

An unfortunate occurrence

The Ultramarines are just not interesting, the "Know No Fear" book actually corrected that, but it's direction doesn't exist in the 40K fluff

What defines 'interesting'? And when I find something not interesting I merely find it not interesting. I don't claim that something I don't care for is horrible and unpleasant and loathsome beyond words.

Out of thousands of Chapters the Ultramarines seem to be the only ones getting the "I hate those guys" attitude.

yep, started the gaunt's ghost books i read the last one first that made me want to check out the whole things, just got the founding from dan abnett, also have the ultramarine books, there goods but they guys does seem to get better as it goes along in the stories.

I havent read it, but I think Chapter's Due would be pretty bad ass to read. Mostly cause I hate Tau and I heard there is some Raven Guard action. FINNALY! One of the Astartes writers catch on that theres more types of chapters then their Space Vampires or Space Vikings! (Sorry I go on a rampage when I think how GW and BL ignore the really cool chapters and just let them dry in the sun)

I love the possessed in the First Heretic, then again I love anything thats ape-shit or yells "KILL! MAIM! BURN!". Thats why I do Blood Angels. I will collect World Eaters When Chaos is done decently (not by Matt Ward, unless the Emperor appears in his dreams and just sais "no.")
