"I am here to reclaim the Liber Mortificarium, Grand Master." The xenos said in its almost ethereal voice.
"No. It rightly belongs in my order's hands, xenos." Helford retorted keeping his voice level, but serious.
"I will not ask again."
"Then we are done here." With that Helford made a dismissive gesture with his gauntleted hand, and the xenos disappeared from before him. "Perhaps all we need is to hold a firm line with these xenos, and they will learn their place." As he spoke there was a flash in the distance, and jetbikes could be seen, where none had been before.
"They wish to fight." He said. "TO ARMS!" Giving the order Helford and his accompanying Paladins rushed into their Land Raider Redeemer and rumbled forward.

Meanwhile off to the side Garvious, Imperial Assassin, lay in wait. He had accompanied the Gery Knights under orders that if the xenos showed themselves to take them out. It seemed they had indeed shown themselves, and without any attempt at diplomacy. All the easier for him to destroy them. Their jetbikes were incredibly fast and seemed to be in two places at once. He could make out their outlandish occupants who also seemed to be there and not be there at the same time. Carefully he sighted in on the first bike, gently squeezed and the round was loosed.
Nothing happened.
Garvious looked up from his rifle, and back at the rifle. He missed. He had never missed.

Helford steeled his mind for the coming battle as the Land Raider was rocked violently, and suddenly came to a halt.
"What happened?" He shouted.
"Tracks got taken out, Grand Master." The driver reported.
"Everyone out." Helford ordered, and with that the Land Raider's ramp dropped and the Grey Knights charged out. Before them were two jetbikes laden with outrageous looking troops. "What kind of mockery is this?" He charged his Nemesis halberd with power and ran at the nearest approaching jetbike. His strike glanced off the alien armor and the passengers flipped off in unnaturally elegant maneuvers, landing gracefully on the ground.
"You should have listened, Grand Master." The xenos from before said, as they ran at the Grey Knights.
Nolo mihi libet sis multo felis.

"Stand and Fight!" He bellowed at the xenos. As the words left his lips he felt something hit him in the neck. Then searing pain filled him as something sliced through his insides. He let out a scream that turned into a gurgle as his innards turned to soup. Slowly he fell to his knees as his physiology tried to keep him going. All around him his Paladins were falling, felled by alien blades. How could this have happened? How could he be bested? Then all went dark.

Garvious took a deep breath, seeing the Grey Knights falling before the alien forces. Spying one working arcane methods. Darkness seemed to draw in on the figure. His spy mask easily saw through the shadows. With a high powered round in the chamber he sighted in on the foul Eldar's head and pulled the trigger. With a loud crack the round launched forward.
Nothing happened.
Garvious sighed heavily.
Nolo mihi libet sis multo felis.

Flipping up and over the fifteen foot ledge the Solitaire landed lightly on her feet, and saw the enemies of the Eldar. They were clad in power armor scrawled in runes and sayings that lacked any true power. She had read far more powerful forms of protection within the library, these humans were fools. With a single bound she covered the twenty feet to her prey, and the crackling reave blades did the rest. Easily slicing through power armor she danced, spinning and pirouetting, from body to body leaving only bloody ruin in her wake.

Garvious saw the Eldar jetbikes preparing to speed away and knew they would cause more damage if they were allowed to remain mobile. Knowing he had the power to stop them, he loaded a turbo penetrator round into his rifle, closing the chamber. He brought the rifle to his shoulder, feeling the familiar smoothness of the specially designed stock. Leaning into it he sighted down the scope, focusing in on the fast moving target, aiming ahead just enough to lead it at the speed it was moving. Taking a breath he pulled the trigger in a smooth motion. The telltale crack of a fired round split the air.
Nothing happened.
Garvious lowered the rifle, and squinted at the alien bike, then at his ammo pack. He shook his head.
Nolo mihi libet sis multo felis.

There was the faintest of sounds as warning, the Solitaire had but a second to turn and look. Just visible over a stone wall a massive construct with a human at its heart stood, some mechanical abomination, but closer was a small object. The object exploded in torrential flame. The Solitaire tried to run, but the fire was hotter than the sun and scorched everything away. There was no pain, no torment, just cold.
Now the game of souls begins.

Garvious began loading his rifle again, perhaps they had forcefields he had not accounted for, that might explain it. He loaded a shield breaker round, as he did he noticed three of the xenos headed for him at a dead sprint. He quickly dropped his rifle and drew his pistol. If he had any range of emotion he would have smirked at the foolish xenos to try and engage a member of the Assassinorum in combat. They didn't stand a chance. The first Eldar leaped at him and he grabbed the cartwheeling xenos, putting his pistol in its chest and pulling the trigger. The exitus pistol let out a loud bang and the two combatants fell apart. The xenos looked down at its elaborate costume, there was a neat hole in it, but no blood.
It had passed through only cloth.
Garvious looked down. Sticking out of his black body suit was the handle of an alien sword, blood dribbled along the blade and off of the ornate handle. He let out a sigh and slumped his shoulders before he fell to the ground.
*******************************************
Brother Grim, Knight of the Flame, was incensed at the death of his Grand Master. The xenos must pay. With his devoted purifiers at his back he charged for the offending aliens. Mustering their power he felt invigorated, psychic strength infusing his limbs. The xenos danced and cavorted about seemingly haphazardly, but Grim knew better, and Grim had a trick of his own. As the aliens came to meat him, the very air seared with righteous flames. Two aliens burst into fire and burnt to ash. Then came the furious exchange of blows.
The fighting was bitter blows going back and forth, parries and ripostes, but still purifiers were falling to alien blades. Their purifying flames only seeming to level the field of battle rather than ensure victory. As the combat continued to rage more aliens and purifiers fell until only the leader of the alien rabble was standing before Grim. Both Grim and the alien bore the marks of battle, but Grim was determined he would prevail.
Desperately Grim parried a flurry of attacks, he stabbed forward and the alien twirled away. Just as it seemed the xenos would charge back in and end Grim's life, the Grey Knight looked up at the outlandish alien and said one word.
"BURN!" Righteous flame coalesced engulfing the Eldar and turning him to ash. Grim fell to one knee, the weight of his fallen brothers weighing on his shoulders. As he looked around the aliens seemed to be retreating. He had done it. He had broken them.
Nolo mihi libet sis multo felis.
