dont you have to pay for that
Yes you do, but it is worth it if you are seriously into the game. Allows you to add and remove units and wargear on the fly. Vital for tournaments. GW tried with Armies and Enemies of the Imperium (software) but it never broke into the market. They released too limited a software and it didn't compare to that link

but i cant really do things like that and whats wrong with a good old fashioned calculator?
Problem with a calculator is that you have to manually find the point values for the items you're removing and adding then make the calculation. It's just slower.
Using software is essentially a personal choice. I intend to use it when I finish my RG army.

im a school kid mate
I'm a Uni student, and for that reason alone I have yet to buy the software! $30 US is a hell of a lot for a convenience so it's dead last on my list!

The only reason I stopped getting figures is because it got so damned expensive. I mean the prices really don't need to be so high!
Well with the new manufacturing methods they do, but if they had stuck to the old then the prices could have been kept down. In the end I decided I'd rather have models than BF3.

figures are good as they provide physical fun (build/paint) as well as gaming
Well I have both now ^^
I'm really looking forward to getting back into playing, after Xmas I will buy the last few squads I need to be viable for games and give it a go

I really want to build and army but fear I won't have anyone to actually PLAY with. So I'll spend all this money and go through all the aggravation of painting them to just put them in a box in my closet.
*SIGH*
Yeah it's like that for me. HOWEVER if you buy the AOBR kit you could play over skype using a co-ordinate based movement system. Both Players would need copies of the same army and AOBR gives both SM and Orks
