Dante smirks. "You and Nightmare know each other? What a touching reunion." He crosses his arms, studying the man who had become a living legend. The scythe didn't scare him, nor His unearthly head movements. If there was a chance of getting rid of Nightmare, He would indeed take it. One voice in His head was enough...there simply wasn't enough space for Him, Nightmare, and Sigmund

Cain cocks his head.

" doesssssss not remember.....annoyance.... You die now.... Swiftly!"


The grip on the scythe shifts and the scythes wicked blade is sent up at your throat in a deadly arc.

" move!"

Nightmare and sigiund scream, the speed inhuman.

" move now!"

With inhuman speed of His own, Dante grabs the hilt of Apollyon, drawing it in a lightning fast motion to block the scythe. "No more running. I'm not here to fight. We are going to talk..." His blue eyes flash with intensity. "....if it fucking kills both of us."

You manage to halt the blade, the two weapons connecting with bone jarring orce as cains expression shifts from impassive to enraged.

Dante's will is unyielding, as He holds his blade against Cain's. "I didn't fucking fight my way out here through ghouls, a giant fucking spider, and twin monsters for this. Are you truly the legend I've heard so much about, or are you little more than a monster? I don't talk to monsters Cain...I kill them."

His thumb rests on the switch that will electrify His blade. "You get one warning....that was it."

Cain laughs , a harsh bark from a throat seemingly unused to making the sound. Your blade is driven back with startling force.

Sparks fly in all directions as he breaks the lock with a wide sweep and slams the side if his scythe into the blade and sends you back several steps.


" both...... What do you want hunter... My patience runsss thin..."

"What is your motivation? I've heard stories from both sides....some say you are a monster...some see you as a savior. I was paid to bring you in...but now...I'm not so sure. Is your cause just? Or is that just what you tell yourself? Why do you fight? What is your end game?" Dante maintains a guarded stance, keeping Apollyon's blade between Him and the lethal scythe. "The being Nightmare has haunted my steps for days. If you can rid me of Him...my sword is yours." He smiles fiercely. "Your move."

The scythe seems to shift and you suddenly feel tired.

Nightmares voice is gone, his presence gone, you see the figure slack it's grip and it lowers it.


" nightmare... Residual ghoul ... I have riffed you of him... I am not the Cain you look for, I am a clone of him,but you will follow me to him, you will find your answers there. "

The scythe vanishes and cains copy turns from you.

" you will need supplies.... Come."

Dante smiles to himself. He knew He was far from out of the woods...but this development went better than planned. "Bullshit...I don't plan shit." He thought to himself. Being a man of His word, He nodded to the copy, as He sheathed His sword.

"Let's go."

You follow the clone Intothe town, and everything is still.

Bodies of ghouls and PDF lay scattered all around and nothing seems to move. The clone motions to an inn and shrugs.

" if get in here before the police get here.... We can act like scared tourists."

Dante nods, chuckling at the idea of himself as a scared tourist. He kicks out the stand on the bike, and enters the inn. "Sooo...tourists normally carry lots of firepower...err...clone?" That seemed like the most logical way to address the copy of His former quarry.

The clone grabs what looks like a uniform and tosses it to you.

" call me theta... We need to move quickly if the adf see me they'll attack thinking Cain, he made an attack here a short bit ago."

Dante slips out of his clothing, folding it and stashing it in the saddlebags He took from his bike. He admires the outfit. "Nice. Lemme guess, former owner is now dead?" He tilts His head. "Theta...so, there are several of you?"

The clone nods.

" there are eight... Five are dead the last two are AWOL .... I only recently woke up and saw y father dead. I've no idea what's going on I just know I have to find him."

He finds a hood and affixes it to his head obacuring his face.

" your friend... The female is she trustworthy."

Dante shrugs. In life many had left Him to die, so trust was not easily earned from him. Tayla had been more trustworthy than most, but at the end of the day, she too was held at arms length, as per their on again, off again relationship.

"How trustworthy does she need to be? You can trust your life to her, if that's what you mean."

Theta opens a door checking outside. " I will take your word for it... We can head to the estates ... But there was a strong of murders there... Security may be tighter .. Or we can go to the underbelly... Once there I can fill you in on what's going on with the man you seek."

Estates brought to mind images from old movies of ballgowns, mansions, snooty gentry, and pretty much anything that could possibly irritate Dante. "Let's go to the underbelly...with a name like that, it's got to be my kind of place. Maybe I can pick up some new 'toys' as well." Experience had taught Him that even if one wasn't looking for something in particular, seedy areas were abundant with new resources.

Theta nods, and his scythe breaks down intoi four heavy iron rings.


"come dante.."

he growls, pushing the door open.

"stay close."

Tayla moves up beside you and folds her arms.

"Clone....Of a madman....Are we really sure about htis."

he heads outside and

Dante follows Theta. For the moment, He trusted this lab creation a little more than the girl who had been in and out of His life for years.

"He rid me of Nightmare...if that isn't an act of good faith, I don't know what is. And really, who ISN'T a little mad in this day and age?" Dante added with a wry smile. He gestured for Tayla to follow Him.

Theta moves witha uprising speed for Somone with such a lanky appearance .

He guides you past the sirens as the rip past on the street and guides you down a manhole into the darkness.

A large neon sign glows in the foetid tunnel.
