Just an update again, after screaming at the hosting company they found another user (another website) is accessing our shared database server and overloading it resulting in shitty performance. Waiting to hear back from them
However the website is much faster today, so they probably yelled at the idiot overloading it. Funny how much progress you can get when you mention "30 days money back guarantee"

Server was down again... This time our host decided to take it offline to replace yet another drive and upgrade the RAID firmware.
How nice of them to give us some notice that they were doing this.
