'You idiot, you forgot to get some gold!' One of the serpents hissed in his head."You think you can answer a question for me?" He asked the butcher. He might as well get an answer or two now after realizing his mistake.

The butcher looked at him
"whats your question?" he asked

"This town, what can you tel me about it?" He asked him as he leaned on the counter, putting his empty briefcase on the floor. Which, oddly enough, seemed to have opened on the way down.

" it's a nice little town nothing really abnormal but you friend" he said looking at him

"Uh huh, and visitors to this town passing out in the middle of the street is normal?" He asked him, making a few gestures with his hands to keep the man's attention. One of serpents has tried to make itself smaller and began slithering down within his suit and out the bottom of his pant leg. It began to slither around the counter towards the case of beef.

"who passed out in the middle of town?" he asked kinda surprised

He raised an eyebrow from behind his gasmask, not sure what if he was lying or being sincere. "My friend, we were just in this town. She passed out while we were walking." He explained, making a brief summary of it. The serpent went to wrap itself around the case and to lift it and carry it back around to verschlinger's side.

"we've never had some one pass out but this town has a lot thicker air and if you weren't born it could be over whelming" he said

"Why would the air here be so thick then? And why did no one noticed or minda unconsious person?" He asked him, rather confused now. 'You would think people would notice that sort of thin if it was not commonplace.' He thought. The serpent slithered back with its' meat laden loot, and placed it with in the briefcase. It closed the briefcase and flipped the clasps closed.

" well since it's thick and if you don't know how to breath thick air then that could be a reason " the man said to him

He almost cocked his head at the man's words. "Good sir, that is not what I asked." He said flatly. "Why is the air thick? And why did no one tried to help her?" He repeated himself. 'So what is he covering up?' A serpent asked the others in his head.

" i couldn't tell you why and most people keep to them selves here" he said

"Alright, I will leave it at that then." He said, doubting he was getting anymore out of him. He picked up his now closed briefcase and nodded to the butcher. "Have a good day." He said as he walked out of the shop.

'Something is definetly wrong here, we need to get far from here.' The serpents said to him. He walks the path he took earlier in a quick pace, not wanting to leave Alice and Artemus alone any longer at all.

Alice was laying there .snuggled up to Artemus. she was napping in the grass while Artemus kept watch

He smiled seeing them, feeling a little more relaxed. For now. He walked up quietly to them and set down the briefcase. "Keeping watch, ja?" He chuckled quietly to artemus. He puts a hand on Alice's shoulder. "Dear, I'm back. Got dinner too." He said to her, gently rubbing her shoulder.

" food?" she asked rubbing her eye

"Ja, right here." He said as he opened up his briefcase. "I'm going to have to cook it, but I think I got enough for all of us." He said as he pulled out the case of beef.
