I'm thinking of making some shells for the hell of it (being a cosplayer and all), and was trying to figure the scale on these things. Anyone got any idea? I was figuring roughly 4''...yes/no? More/less?

and they are mini warheads remember so they wil be about the width of a small renade

A bolt is the equivilent to a explosive 50. cal bullet. This applys for Bolters and Heavy Bolters since they use the same ammo type.

good luck with it. hope it turns out well. from what ive seen of cosplay it either looks amazingly good or amazingly shit but from the way you are about it i belive it will turn out good.

games workshop has said that a normal bolt shell is a 75 cal or close to a 20mm and a heavy bolter round is a 100 cal which is a 25mm
but based on barrel sizes and other pictures i feel that a bolter round is probably closer to a 30mm and a heavy bolter a 40mm. a 50 cal is way to small that would be closer to what a heavy stubber that the imperial guard uses not a bolt weapon. they are also stubby rounds, not elongated penetrator style rounds

u can probably make the rounds out of tin cans

A regular bolt round is 20mm which is about 4x the size of a .50 cal round.

Basically the anti-light vehicle round we use in our Bradly fighting vehicles (armored troop transports in the usa) there huge to say the least.....for a shell round to a regular gun.....

There's the final result...might take another crack at it, but figured I'd share the end result as this did turn out pretty decently for a first round attempt

Sadly not at the moment. A year ago they said there next weapon they would do was the las-rifle but sadly nothing from that yet. I hope they do more.
